A former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia visited the Speaker of the Senate (Upper House) in Mogadishu on February 2.
Ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed paid Speaker Abdi Hashi a courtesy call at the latter’s office in the nation’s capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Ahmed’s visit comes a few hours after Speaker Hashi sent a letter to President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Galmudug saying that he would attend the ongoing Dhusamareb conference.
Speaker Hashi is yet to receive any response from Qoorqoor.
Consequently, it seems highly likely that he would not be among leaders meeting in Dhusamareb to discuss and find solutions for the elections impasse.
Senator Ilyas Ali Hassan accompanied the former President of Somalia to visit Speaker Hashi.
