A former President of Somalia has claimed that the man caught on tape shooting at civilians at a busy junction in Mogadishu is a government soldier.
Ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed made this claim after watching the recording on video.
On December 25, a man was caught shooting indiscriminately along a busy Mogadishu junction before firing his gun at civilians.
Ahmed claimed that the man is a serving Somali National Army (SNA) soldier.
Consequently, the former president has urged leaders of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to launch investigations into the matter.
Furthermore, he asked authorities to hold the soldier accountable for his actions, which could have been fatal.
