The former Chief of Staff to ex-President Abdullahi Yusuf has been appointed the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In Thursday, November 19, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble appointed Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud Abubakar the new foreign affairs minister.
Mohamud once served as the Chief of Staff during President Yusuf’s regime.
President Yusuf led Somalia from October 14, 2004 to December 29, 2008.
Additionally, the new foreign affairs minister has also served as a Special Advisor to Ahmedou Ouid-Abdalla, a former United Nations Special Envoy.
Mohamud’s CV also features a stint as the Country Director for the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
He is not entirely a political novice though. His family has a rich political background.
