Ex-Presidential Candidate Appointed Somalia’s New Ambassador to Kenya

A former presidential candidate has been appointed to serve as the new Somali Ambassador to Kenya.

Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, who vied in the last presidential elections in 2022, will now represent Somalia’s interests in Kenya as its new envoy.

He takes over from Mohamed Nur Tarzan.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Jabril because of many reasons including the fact that he has lived and worked in Kenya for over 10 years.

Jabril’s first task would be to facilitate the reopening of the Somalia-Kenya border.

The reopening of the border takes priority because Somalia is minutes away from joining the East African Community (EAC) as the eighth member.
