The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has donated six vehicles to Somaliland to help curb the locust infestation that has hit the country hard.
While receiving the cars, the Minister of Agriculture, Ahmed Mumin Seed, thanked FAO for the donation. He said the cars would go a long way to helping Somaliland defeat the locusts.
The Horn of Africa region has been beset with a fresh wave of locust invasion.
Global organizations, humanitarian agencies, and international partners have already donated finances, equipment, and personnel to help the region turn the situation around.
Additionally, the agriculture minister announced that two helicopters are set to arrive to Hargeisa from Nairobi as part of the ongoing aerial spray exercise.
In addition to the cars, FAO has also sent a donation of 1,900kgs of organic pesticides and six backpack sprayers to help Somaliland to deal with this monstrous situation.
