Officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Somalia visited displaced pastoralists outside Qardho in Puntland.
Etienne Peterschmitt, the FAO Representative and Country Director for Somalia, led his colleagues in visiting the pastoralists.
The displaced pastoralists informed Peterschmitt that the ongoing drought has destroyed their livelihoods.
Consequently, they are now looking at bleak futures.
The displaced pastoralists now depend on the goodwill of other Somalis completely for their survival.
Peterschmitt has called for urgent humanitarian assistance.
He said that the situation is worsening despite FAO’s best efforts.
