The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has promised to continue delivering assistance directly to Somalis affected by the ongoing drought.
FAO issued a statement on July 30 on the ongoing situation in Somalia.
In its statement, the organization expressed deep concerns about the drought situation. It also noted how the drought affects vulnerable households around the country.
FAO spoke about the situation following a recent visit by Rein Paulsen to different parts of the East African nation.
Paulsen is the Director of FAO Emergencies.
The organization’s decision to deliver assistance directly to the affected households seeks to protect their livelihoods and prevent further displacement.
Nevertheless, the organization has called for increased funding.
