Farmaajo Accuses Journalists of Links with Al-Shabaab

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia embarked on an all-out attack against journalists in the country on Saturday night.

During his tirade, Farmaajo accused journalists in the country of links with Al-Shabaab, a militia group that has killed Somalis and people from other nationalities in the country for years.

Furthermore, the President accused journalists of lacking the knowledge and experience required to work in the industry.

However, Farmaajo never backed up his claims.

Journalists around the country are now likely to be alarmed at this turn of affairs and attack from the Head of State.

After all, Farmaajo recently signed a controversial Media Law that has been termed “draconian” by press freedom watchdogs.

Al-Shabaab has been propagating its message via media outlets that are sympathetic to its course.

Farmaajo probably had this at the back of his mind when he launched the scathing attack against them last night.
