President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has agreed to invite all leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS) to Mogadishu for election talks.
Initially, the plan was for Farmaajo to hold talks with President Said Abdullahi Deni and President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Puntland and Jubbaland respectively.
Deni and Madobe have been in Mogadishu since Monday for talks with Farmaajo.
The two had failed to attend the recently concluded Dhusamareb III talks where an agreement on the preferred electoral model was signed.
Consequently, they agreed to hold a separate meeting with Farmaajo in Mogadishu.
However, the two FMS leaders placed several demands before Farmaajo. One of these was to open the discussions to all the five regional leaders.
Therefore, invitations are expected to go out to the leaders of Galmudug, HirShabelle, and Southwest states who attended Dhusamareb III talks with Farmaajo last month.
