President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has finally appointed a new Prime Minister.
Mohamed Hussein Roble takes over the reins as the country’s new Prime Minister.
His appointment was announced on Thursday, September 17 in what turned out to be a busy day for President Farmaajo.
Yesterday, he presided over the signing of an elections agreement in Mogadishu in talks between FGS and Federal Member States (FMS).
Prior to his appointment, Roble worked at the Nairobi office of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
He takes over from the immediate former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire who was kicked out when the House of Representatives passed a vote of no confidence against him in July.
Since then, Mahdi M. Gulaid, who was Khaire’s deputy, has been the Acting Prime Minister.
