President Mohamed Farmaajo has requested Somalis to support the safety measures the country’s Ministry of Health has put in place to stop Coronavirus from spreading. He issued this rallying cry a few hours after Somalia announced its first Coronavirus case.
Globally, the scary rate of Coronavirus infections has forced the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare it a pandemic. Since then, Coronavirus has led to the deaths of more than 7,000 people around the world.
On Monday, the Minister of Health in Somalia, Dr. Fawziya Abikar, announced the first positive case of Coronavirus in the country. She issued a raft of recommendations for members of the public to follow. Top of the list was the importance of observing basic hygiene.
President Farmaajo has reiterated the same. He has called upon Somalis to support the recommendations Dr. Abikar issued to put a halt to the virus that has so far wrecked havoc in multiple countries worldwide.
