President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo chaired a preliminary Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) meeting in Dhusamareb on February 1.
Farmaajo chaired the meeting on Monday night.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble joined Farmaajo in representing the government side.
Galmudug’s President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor, Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen, and HirShabelle’s President Ali Guudlaawe represented FMS.
Farmaajo, Roble and the FMS leaders discussed efforts designed to ensure that elections take place at the federal and regional levels.
They also discussed the importance of ensuring that the country holds peaceful elections.
On the first day of the talks, the FGS and FMS leaders spoke of the need for boosting security around the country, especially in the face of rising terror attacks.
