President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has called his most trusted allies to Villa Somalia for a closed-door meeting.
Reports from sources close to Farmaajo say that the President is in a session with Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Other allies attending the meeting include Fahad Yasin, the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), and President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor of Galmudug State.
The meeting between Farmaajo and his allies come in the wake of increased disappointment with preparations for the upcoming elections.
Somali opposition leaders have spoken out angrily against what they call “skewed” preparations for the elections, which are scheduled to take place in December 2020 and February 2021.
Several opposition leaders, especially those expected to take part in next year’s presidential elections, have threatened to withdraw from the race.
