Farmaajo Says There’ll be no Constitutional Crisis When His Term Expires on February 8

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has informed the House of Representatives that there would be no constitutional crisis when his term expires on February 8.

There has been uncertainty whether Somalia would hold presidential elections, which were scheduled for February 8 or much earlier.

However, it is unclear whether the East African nation would get the chance to hold the elections with the ongoing impasse unresolved.

Farmaajo made this assurance on February 6 when he addressed the Lower House on the outcome of the recent National Consultative Conference in Dhusamareb.

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) held the conference from February 1-5 but failed to agree a new elections deal.

Consequently, Farmaajo returned to the nation’s capital for a meeting with the membership of the federal parliament.
