Farmaajo Sends Condolences to Turkey over Deadly Earthquake

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo sent messages of condolences to the people and government of Turkey over a deadly earthquake that hit the European nation on October 30.

Tens of people were confirmed dead from the earthquake.

Hundreds more have been injured while thousands are left homeless after the earthquake destroyed property of unknown value.

On Friday night, Farmaajo said, “My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the Izmir earthquake and the survivors.”

He said that the people and government of Somalia “share the shocks and tears of the earthquake with Turkey.”

Turkey is one of Somalia’s most important international allies and partners.

It has invested in the East African nation’s healthcare system and security. Turkey has helped to train special forces in Somalia too.
