President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo spoke about the ongoing elections in Somalia with the United Nations Secretary-General.
Farmaajo and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke on phone on Tuesday, April 12.
The two issues that dominated their talks were the ongoing electoral process in the East African nation and the drought.
Somalia is currently in the middle of one of its worst droughts.
According to international organizations, more than 4.5 million people are at risk of starvation and famine in Somalia.
During the talks, the UN Secretary-General encouraged Somali leaders to conclude the elections fast.
He also encouraged them to embrace dialogue to resolve the issues preventing the conclusion of the parliamentary and the upcoming presidential elections.
