Incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo is now expected to hand over power to his successor on Monday.
Initial reports indicated that the handing over ceremony was to take place on Sunday, May 22.
However, that appears to have now changed to May 23.
The two leaders met several times in the first week of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s election as the new President of Somalia.
Their last meeting was on May 21 when Farmaajo took Mohamud on a tour of Villa Somalia where the Office of the President is located.
