Farmaajo under Pressure over Brutal Use of Force against Peaceful Protestors

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo is facing increasing pressure over the decision to deploy military personnel against peaceful protestors.

Over the last few days, Farmaajo has been facing massive protests in different parts of the country though the brunt of it seems to be taking place in Mogadishu.

The President has been accused of deploying officers from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) to quell the protests.

The opposition has also hit out at the decision by Farmaajo’s administration to use Somali National Army (SNA) and Somali Police Force (SPF) to stop the protests.

Most of the protestors seem to be outraged against Farmaajo.

During their protests, they are often heard demanding timely elections from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

On Saturday, December 26, presidential candidates from the opposition issued a statement demanding an apology from Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
