President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has welcomed the agreement reached at the just-concluded National Consultative Council (NCC) Conference.
The weeklong NCC Conference ended on January 9.
On Monday, President Farmaajo addressed the public via state broadcasters.
His address to the public focused primarily on the issues that participants at the NCC Conference agreed upon.
Primarily, NCC agreed that the ongoing parliamentary elections would end by February 25, 2022.
Somalia has been holding House of the People (Lower House) polls since late last year.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble chaired the NCC Conference.
Participants at the conference included regional state leaders and opposition presidential candidates among other stakeholders.
