Farmaajo’s Chief of Staff Says Somalia Must Protect Intellectual Property

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s Chief of Staff has said that Somalia has to learn to protect its intellectual property more.

Dr. Nur Dirie Hersi Fuursade, the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, asked Somalis to put more focus on the importance of intellectual property.

Farmaajo’s Chief of Staff said that most Somalis put more emphasis on the country’s natural resources such as minerals and the agricultural productivity.

He also mentioned that as important as sea and land are to the nation’s wealth, none of it is more valuable than “the intellectual property of the East African nation.”

According to Dr. Fuursade, Singapore does not compare favorably to Somalia in terms of agriculture, minerals, sea, and land yet is more respected worldwide.

Furthermore, the Chief of Staff said that Singapore is wealthier than Somalia despite possessing fewer natural resources.
