A federal Member of Parliament (MP) from Hiiraan region has accused Al-Shabaab militants of destroying wells in the region.
Mohamed Abdikadir, who represents the region in the House of the People (Lower House), told state media about the destruction by the militants in Hiiraan.
He was speaking to the state media on Sunday, August 7.
Abdikadir stated that several Al-Shabaab fighters destroyed wells in Bukure village in Hiiraan over the past few days.
According to him, the militants not only destroyed but also set the wells on fire.
He said that the incident is quite sad considering that the region, just as is the case in the entire country, is currently in the middle of a devastating drought.
