FESOJ Condemns Attack by Special Forces on Journalist Covering Mogadishu Clashes

Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) condemned the attack against a journalist who was covering the Mogadishu protests and clashes on February 19.

Abdiaziz Hassan Ibrahim Loyal was covering Friday’s anti-government protests by the opposition when he was confronted by Somali Special Forces (Haramcad).

The soldiers beat him before confiscating some of his possessions.

Loyal was then rushed to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

FESOJ condemned the attack by government troops, which it labeled an “act against press freedom and humanity.”

The journalists’ organization urged authorities to apprehend the soldiers who committed the dastardly act against Loyal.
