FGS Admits Man Who Shot Protestors in Mogadishu is a Police Officer

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) admitted that the man who shot indiscriminately at protestors in Mogadishu last month is a police officer.

In December 2020, a man was seen at a busy road in the nation’s capital firing at innocent and peaceful protestors.

Immediately, opposition politicians issued a statement saying that the shooter was a Somali Police Force (SPF) officer.

Nevertheless, the government has always denied these allegations.

Hassan Jimale, the Minister of Security, admitted that the man was a police officer during a radio interview broadcast on January 3, 2021.

The man was captured shooting at several female protestors in Somalia’s capital city.

During Sunday’s radio interview, Jimale stated that authorities have since arrested the officer and that he now awaits his day in court.
