FGS Claims that UAE Has Attempted to Destabilize Somalia

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) claimed that United Arab Emirates (UAE) has tried to destabilize Somalia several times in the past.

In February 21, Osman Abukar Dubbe, FGS’ Minister of Information, made these startling revelations at a press in Mogadishu.

Dubbe said, “A recent statement from UAE indicates that the country has initiated violence in the East African nation in recent years.”

He said that the involvement by officials from UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in instigating violence in the country is a “clear violation of international law.”

The information minister urged UAE to respect FGS’ legitimacy in leading Somalia.

Dubbe also took issue with the decision by several Somali leaders to visit UAE immediately after the September 17, 2020 agreement on elections was signed.

The minister said that the leaders returned to Somalia with a fresh set of demands.

He hit out at the unnamed Somali leaders for seeking to interfere with the September 17 deal.
