FGS Equips and Delegates De-Martini Hospital to Treat COVID-19 Patients

The Federal Government of Somalia has designated and equipped De-Martini Hospital to treat COVID-19 patients in the country.

FGS made this announcement at a time when the country faces unprecedented increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

De-Martini will mostly serve patients in Mogadishu.

It has set aside a ward in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treating up to 20 patients. The hospital will mostly serve patients displaying severe COVID-19 symptoms.

Further, it has added more medical personnel, who include 10 medical doctors as well as 10 nurses transferred from Digfer Hospital.

De-Martini has also boosted its personnel with senior medical advisors who boast extensive experience in managing transmittable and respiratory diseases.

Currently, the hospital has handled 218 patients out of whom 21 were quarantined. The hospital, which was opened on March 16, 2020, has reported four recoveries.
