President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) held a meeting with other regional and parliamentary leaders at Villa Somalia on Tuesday.
According to a communiqué from the Office of the President, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the “importance of moving forward with the new agreement on elections.”
Last week on Thursday, FGS and Federal Member States (FMS) leaders signed an agreement containing solutions to several issues regarding Somalia’s upcoming elections.
Yesterday, Farmaajo met with the five regional leaders from Galmudug, Jubbaland, Puntland, Southwest, and HirShabelle states.
Leaders from the House of Representatives (Lower House) and the Senate (Upper House) were also at the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed the need for holding timely elections that reflect the will and aspirations of all voters in the country.
Furthermore, they talked about creating an atmosphere that promotes stability, unity, and peace within the East African nation.
