The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has promised legal action against any soldier engaging in politics.
On January 9, the Ministry of Defense issued a new raft of rules on this matter.
In its announcement, the defense ministry asked Somali National Army (SNA) officers to execute their national duties in line with existing laws.
Specifically, the ministry prohibited soldiers from mingling in politics.
The ministry promised stern action against those breaking the law by engaging in political activities or taking political sides.
