The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has sent a request for assistance from Ukraine’s neighbors for Somali nationals.
FGS sent the request on February 26.
Several Somali nationals are caught up in Ukraine and unable to leave for safety.
Currently, Ukraine is under attack from Russia. President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to attack Ukraine in the last few days.
A letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that Ukraine’s neighboring countries have already responded positively to the request by Somalia.
Further, Somalia’s embassies in Berlin and Brussels have been in touch with many Somalis who are currently on their way to Poland.
