Somalis have been stranded and unable to fly following the decision by the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) to suspend international flights.
However, FGS now announced that it has suspended the ban for two days to allow stranded Somalis to travel back to the country.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Transport announced an easing of restrictions to allow those interested to travel back to the Horn of Africa nation.
Several Somalis have been stranded in Ethiopia, Kenya, the Gulf, and Hargeisa in Somaliland even since the ban came into force.
FGS shut out international flights from the country’s airport when it reported its first confirmed Coronavirus case.
It introduced this measure to stop the virus from spreading further around the country. Apart from that, FGS also closed all learning institutes for 15 days.
