Filish and Sidi Demand Immediate AMISOM Investigation into Civilian Deaths

Omar Filish and Abdikadir Sidi have asked African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) to launch immediate investigations into the recent deaths of civilians.

This week, seven people lost their lives during an operation by AMISOM forces in Golweyn.

According to AMISOM, its officers killed seven militants who had laid out an ambush for them in the Lower Shabelle region.

However, the local administration announced that the seven were innocent civilians.

On August 14, Governor Filish of Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) and Governor Sidi of Lower Shabelle region met with senior AMISOM officials over this matter.

They met Ndegeya Diomede, the AMISOM Chief, in Mogadishu.

The two governors asked Diomede to launch immediate investigations to uncover the circumstances that led to the death of civilians.
