Finland to Help Somalia to Ship Grain from Ukraine

Finland will help Somalia to ship grain from Ukraine.

This emerged following a meeting between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and Prime Minister Sanna Marin of Finland.

The two leaders held a meeting on November 8 in Egypt.

They were in Egypt with other heads of state and governments attending the 2022 United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27).

The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the country would provide Somalia with funds for humanitarian assistance.

Somalia will receive €15.7 million for humanitarian aid.

Out of that, €7 million would go towards helping the World Food Programme (WFP) to bring in grain from Ukraine to Somalia.
