Fiqi Briefs UNSC on Somalia’s Security in 2025 Post-ATMIS

Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, briefed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Thursday on the country’s security plans for 2025 when the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) leaves.

He said that Somalia is actively involved in consultations with the AU and the UN concerning post-ATMIS security arrangements for 2025.

Fiqi added that these discussions are crucial for ensuring a smooth transition and continued support to Somalia’s security forces as ATMIS concludes its mission.

Somalia seeks to solidify long-term strategies that will sustain peace and stability in the country after the withdrawal of international forces.
