A huge inferno razed a market in one of the oldest districts in Mogadishu.
The fire at the market in Hamarweyne started on Friday night.
It quickly spread to a number of stalls and premises.
The inferno reduced the stalls and premises to ashes fast.
Traders say that they lost assets and stock of unknown value.
Ordinary people fought hard to put out the fire without any specialized equipment.
Later, firefighters arrived on the scene to help members of the public.
Mayor Yusuf Madale of Mogadishu also showed up to commiserate with the traders.
Initial reports indicate that an electrical fault was responsible for the blaze.
