Fisheries ministries at the federal and regional state levels have signed an agreement to develop the sector in Somalia.
Ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Federal Member States (FMS) signed the agreement on Friday.
Primarily, the agreement allows them to develop the sector around the country.
It also supports the sharing of revenues from the sector at the federal and regional state levels.
According to the new agreement, both levels of government are to work together to battle illegal fishing, foster skills, and align fisheries laws of the regional states with the Fisheries Act.
They signed the agreement after two days of meetings and consultations.
