On Sunday, Somalia’s Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources launched a workshop to discuss the impending Fisheries Act.
The event, which has been dubbed Consultation Workshop Fisheries Act and Framework for Regulation, is crucial for setting the agenda for the fisheries sector in the country.
According to the Minister of Fisheries, Abdillahi Bidhan, who launched the workshop, stakeholders need to set up proper regulatory framework for this sector.
Without it, Bidhan said that fisheries sector would suffer at the local and national levels.
The forthcoming Fisheries Act would also enhance the governance of the sector at the regional levels while guaranteeing sustainable use of fisheries resources throughout the country.
