Five Killed as Gunmen Storm Headquarters of Education Ministry in Mogadishu

Authorities have confirmed that five people were killed when gunmen stormed the headquarters of the federal Ministry of Education in Mogadishu.

Gunmen attacked the ministry’s offices located at the popular K-5 Junction, also known as Zobe, in Mogadishu.

The deadly attack took place on Saturday, October 29.

Among those killed is Mohamed Isse Kona, a local journalist who works independently.

He died even as other journalists and innocent civilians escaped with injuries. Authorities are worried that the casualties could rise.

At the moment, it is not clear whether the gunmen are affiliated with any terrorist group.

However, the manner in which they carried out the brazen and deadly attack points to Al-Shabaab as the group that is responsible for the chaos.
