Foreign Affairs Minister Bids Farewell to EU Ambassador to Somalia

Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, bid farewell to Nicolas Berlanga, the outgoing European Union Ambassador to Somalia.

Ambassador Berlanga’s tour of duty has come to an end.

He handed in his credentials to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on June 3, 2019 when he started working as the new EU Ambassador to Somalia.

After three years, Ambassador Berlanga leaves a proud diplomat.

Mohamud hailed the role Berlanga played in promoting the diplomatic and trade relations between Somalia and the EU.

“I express my gratitude as well as that of the government and people of Somalia to you,” Mohamud said during the Mogadishu event held to bid Ambassador Berlanga farewell on August 29.

Mohamud also cited the improved relations between Somalia and Keny. He said this would not have been possible without the involvement of Ambassador Berlanga.
