Former Deputy NISA Chief Calls the New Electoral Commissions Unsuitable

A former Deputy Director of the National Intelligent and Security Agency (NISA) has labeled the new electoral commissions “unsuitable.”

Ismail Osman, the former Deputy Director of Somalia’s intelligence agency, accused the government of making horrible decisions that could cause chaos around the country.

Osman made these sentiments during an interview with a local radio station.

The former spy chief said that he knows five of the commissioners appointed to the polls body.

He knows the five individuals at a personal level as spy agents.

Osman also faulted the statement made by Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi M. Gulaid on Wednesday, November 18.

Gulaid had expressed confidence at victory by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo’s side in the presidential elections in the first round.

Osman said that such sentiments are “unfortunate.”

He said that the government has shown its hand.

The former spy agent said that the government is likely to indulge in voting fraud as seen in Galmudug, HirShabelle, and Southwest states.

Osman called the composition of the electoral commissions “unsuitable.”
