A former leader of the regional state of Puntland has added his voice to the growing opposition to the amendments being carried out on Somalia’s Provisional Constitution.
Ex-President Abdirahman Farole, who now serves as a Senator in the Upper House, said that the entire process of amending the constitution is “misguided.”
Senator Farole said this on Saturday in an interview with BBC Somalia.
He joins a chorus of leaders such as ex-President Mohamed Farmaajo, ex-President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, and ex-Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Khaire who have all opposed the process.
Senator Farole called on President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud not to proceed with the amendments.
