On Wednesday, he was laid to rest in Puntland’s administrative capital. Several regional leaders attended his funeral.
President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle, President Ahmed Kariye Qoorqoor of Galmudug, and President Ahmed Madobe of Jubbaland were at the funeral.
They were joined by several senior officials of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), who included Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Upper House in Somali Federal Parliament.
Meanwhile, the three regional leaders are expected to join Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Thursday for the burial of ex-Prime Minister Hassan Farah who died in Turkey.
