Professor Ali Khalif Galaydh, the former Prime Minister of Somalia who passed away on October 8, was laid to rest on Saturday, October 10.
The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) accorded him a state funeral.
Professor Galaydh reportedly died of COVID-19 though his family has demanded thorough investigations to determine the exact cause of his death.
The 79-year old was pronounced dead in Jigjiga, the capital of the Somali Region in Ethiopia.
However, senior officials of Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) believe that Professor Galaydh was poisoned.
Over the weekend, though, the controversies surrounding his death were laid aside as Galaydh was accorded a befitting sendoff.
The plane carrying his body arrived at Aden Adde International Airport on Saturday.
Later, his body was transported to the burial site for a funeral that was attended by top officials from the government of Somalia, led by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
