Former Spy Chief Target of Shooting by Security Forces in Mogadishu

A former spy chief claims that he was the target of shooting by security forces in Mogadishu on April 18.

General Abdirahman Mohamud Turyare, a former Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), claims he was shot at on Sunday night.

General Turyare later spoke with the media about the incident.

He said, “I was driving in the outskirts of Miranayo at 11pm when security forces started firing at me.”

Turyare expressed gratitude to God for protecting him.

In his words, those who attacked him were from Duufaan Brigade, a unit of special forces in the capital city.

Turyare believes that the soldiers were operating under the orders of Fahad Yasin, the current NISA Director.

The incident took place near the residence of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, a former President of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
