African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has confirmed that four of its soldiers died when a landmine exploded in Lower Shabelle.
The attack, which took place in Elasha Biyaha, seemed to target the soldiers.
Multiple sources have indicated that the vehicle carrying the soldiers ran over the remote-controlled landmine.
The vehicle then blew up killing four soldiers on the spot.
Identities of the dead soldiers remain hidden for now, though. Local and national security authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
