Four Children Die in Mogadishu as an IDP Camp Wall Collapses

Four children died when a wall at a camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) collapsed on Tuesday.

The four children included a 3-year old child.

They died when the wall at their Malale Camp in Mogadishu collapsed following days of heavy downpour.

All the four died on the spot.

Several others were injured and rushed to hospital by local residents to receive medical attention.

Deqa Mohamed Yusuf, a mother of five who has been at the camp since fleeing her rural home, lost three of her young ones during the Tuesday tragic incident.

She confirmed that three of her daughters died while a fourth one was rescued with a few injuries. Deqa is six months pregnant.

Another mother, Deqa Mohamed Madow, lost one of her two children in the incident. She was breastfeeding the other one when the wall collapsed.
