Four children are suspected to have died when a house caught fire and burnt to ashes in Bosaso, Beri.
Residents who witnessed the inferno said it started at 10pm on Wednesday.
It spread quickly as the flames got hotter. A few neighbors tried to stop it with buckets of water unsuccessfully.
Apart from damage to the houses, the fire also destroyed several cars and properties.
Some of the eyewitnesses confirmed that they tried to contain the huge inferno before fire engines arrived but were unable to do so.
The two fire engines that arrived at the scene took around an hour to put it out.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire though eyewitnesses blame it on sparks produced by a short circuit.
