Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned that a new band of desert locusts is hatching before forming bands in Galmudug.
FAO said that it noticed the phenomenon in Ceelgula over the last few days.
Additionally, the food organization issued a warning to the effect that more is expected of the locusts over the coming days and weeks.
Moreover, the organization warns that the new generation of locusts poses a threat to food security in the region.
To reduce the impact, FAO has teamed up with Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation to fight the fresh invasion.
FAO and the agriculture ministry have ramped up their aerial and ground control measures in the regions experiencing the invasion.
