Several species of small fish have died in Mogadishu’s Halane base camp. The situation is not getting any better. Consequently, the decision has opted to undertake thorough investigations to determine the cause of this sad state of affairs.
The country’s Ministry of Fisheries announced the onset of the investigations that it hopes would provide more insights into the mysterious deaths. The Director General in the ministry, Mohamud Sheikh Abdullahi, announced the investigations into the death of the Eydi species.
The investigations are crucial since local fishermen use Eydi for catching other types of fish. Interestingly, the deaths are confined to Halane. They are yet to be spotted in other areas that form part of the Mogadishu shoreline.
