Ali Dahir Ed is the new Vice President of Galmudug in an election contested by five candidates. Galmudug Parliament elected Dahir with 46 votes. The runner up was Abdiwani Sh Ali Diini who got 31 votes.
In announcing the results, Speaker Mohamed Nur Ga’l of Galmudug Parliament said that the legislators had shown their confidence in and preference for Dahir. Consequently, he declared Ali Dahir Ed the duly elected Vice President of Galmudug.
Other candidates in the elections were Sadiq Abdullahi, Ahmed Yusuf Warsame, and Mohamed Abdi who fell off at the first round. Dahir Ed and Ali Diini won the first round to qualify for the runoff that the former won.
