President Ahmed Abdi Karie Qoorqoor of Galmudug held a meeting with several members of the Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FIET) in Dhusamareb on August 9.
The meeting between Qoorqoor and the FIET delegation took place on Monday night.
Sources indicate that Qoorqoor also received a delegation from the Galmudug Electoral Commission. Dispute Resolution Committee members also joined their colleagues from the other two bodies.
Galmudug is currently preparing to hold its Upper House polls this week.
President Qoorqoor expects to announce the list of candidates who will be vying for the senatorial elections soon.
Last week, the Galmudug State Indirect Elections Team (SIET) wrote to Qoorqoor informing him of the need to release the much-awaited list as soon as possible.
Reports from the region show that Abshir Ahmad, the outgoing Senate Deputy Speaker, is likely to be one of the candidates vying for this seat.
Other people rumored to be interested in the seat include Senator Abdi Qebydiid and ex-President Ahmed Haaf.
