The Federal Member State (FMS) of Galmudug has published the names of candidates who will be vying in the upcoming Upper House elections.
President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor released the list on Wednesday, August 10.
Interestingly, Galmudug has set aside two seats for women-only candidates, as part of its efforts to adhere to the women quota of 30 percent.
Galmudug’s representation at the Upper House currently stands at 11 members.
The regional state is likely to follow the examples of Southwest and Jubaland states, which are the only ones to have held Upper House polls thus far.
However, the remaining states – Galmudug, Puntland, and HirShabelle – are all expected to hold their elections this week.
